Another year is wrapping up, and 2024 provided the Balance + Concussion Center (B+C Center) with growth and anticipation for things to come in 2025.
I firmly believe that I work with the best team who brings a unique perspective, dedication to growth and learning, and passion for physical therapy to our practice. Jennifer celebrated her one-year anniversary with us a few months ago. Jen’s energy with our Balance Strong! class, dedication to our clients, and sense of humor have helped grow our programs and comprehensive patient care. We were also lucky to add Lauren Goebel to the team in 2024. Lauren has helped us grow our Parkinson’s Disease treatment program for those wanting to participate in the LSVT-BIG program and for those looking for comprehensive physical therapy using large-amplitude movements. I continue to offer specializations in vestibular and concussion rehabilitation while focusing on growing the B+C Center.
In addition to growing our team this year, we also grew our space in the clinic, officially opening the Balance + Concussion Center space at our downtown location. The concept was in the works for many years and came to life this past summer. The B+C Center provides a unique space for all of our team’s clients. It is a quieter room where those with light, sound, and visual motion sensitivities can participate in therapy. We also installed a harness system to allow those with movement challenges an opportunity to work on more advanced fall prevention and balance skills without a fear of falling. If you have not yet seen the space, come by the clinic and check it out. We are very proud to show it off!
The B+C Team has also been busy staying involved with the community. Dana and Jennifer are ambassadors for VeDA (Vestibular Disorders Association) and help campaign to raise awareness for vestibular disorders both internationally and with local events, such as our Steps-2-Balance Flock Walk. Dana has been a guest speaker in multiple international VeDA events and support groups. Lauren has done an outstanding job of reaching out to connect with our local Parkinson’s community through local programs and support groups.
We are grateful for our success in 2024 but are not complacent. We have continued new ideas and opportunities for growth in 2025. We will kick off the new year with a new group fitness class called Age Strong! This class is the perfect compliment to our balance class because it addresses strength and mobility, which are needed for good balance to occur. Age Strong! Is a circuit-style class with alternating strength and mobility stations with exercises that are adaptable to a variety of ability levels. The class was designed by Dana and will be taught by our own coach, Megan Sloan. Registration is open, so we hope you can join us! (Check out our website for more information). We will also bring more programming regarding vestibular disorders and concussion management to you next year both in-person and online. We are just getting started, so keep looking to see what we are up to next!
With a reflection on the old and anticipation for the new, there is one thing that does not change – our gratitude for you! We are forever grateful that you provide your trust us to help you navigate your recovery. We know that vestibular disorders, concussions, and neurological disorders are complex and life-altering. We do not take that lightly, and appreciate your partnership in your rehabilitation and recovery. Whether we see you one time, have a flare of symptoms and come back to the clinic, or need a “tune up”, we appreciate each of you.
Jennifer, Lauren and I wish each of you a peaceful, happy end to 2024, and all of the best in good health and happiness for 2025!
– Dana
